<aside> 🍃 Mission Statement
Over these past four years, my intention has been to study actuarial science and participate in a variety of experiences that help shape me as a person in order to gain a better sense of who I am, what I want to do, and what I need to do to live a fulfilling life.

<aside> 🌿 Introduction
I chose the appearance of this page to highlight that, despite being an Actuarial Science and Spanish major, I am more than just the academic side of me and my collegiate accomplishments. I love being in nature, listening to music, reading poetry, writing, and living a peaceful and fulfilling life. To me, this aesthetic represents that side of me.

The sound of cheering reached a crescendo as thousands of black caps filled the air, tassels trailing behind them. I looked around at my peers, smiling at our most recent accomplishment: graduation. I’d spent the past four years buckled down studying, working, participating in extracurriculars, and ultimately figuring out who I was. It wasn’t an easy process, but by God, we made it. The noise around me faded to a distant murmur as I was pulled into my thoughts, reflecting on the time I’d spent in college and where I was going to go from here.
I was now headed out into the world, to start my career and rent my first apartment and… be a real adult. It was a bit intimidating, but I was more than ready. Spending time in college had taught me a lot about various topics that I can apply to my career, but even then, there was still a gap to be bridged. However, college also taught me a lot about various life skills and values that I have. I learned the importance of being a good citizen and doing my part. That can mean a lot of things and generally people tend to consider volunteering when they think about giving back to the community, but in college I realized it was more than that. I realized how important it is to be a good person and a positive presence. I believe that people tend to get back what they put out into the world around them. Holding the door for others, smiling at other when walking by, not being afraid to give compliments to strangers, asking how your classmates are doing when you get to class, picking up trash you see on the ground, and doing the right thing even when no one is looking. These are all things that are so small and seemingly insignificant but when they become a daily practice, the moments add up. They have a positive effect on people and inspire others to start doing the same.
Another thing I’ve learned is how to be disciplined with myself. I don’t mean this in the sense that I wasn’t disciplined before college, but I now know *how* to do this for myself rather than someone else doing it for me. I can manage my time, stay organized, get my assignments done on time, and do well in my classes, all while being an athlete and working a job and serving as officer for two clubs. I take a lot of pride in my work, and in all these roles I have a variety of accomplishments that show that these are so much more than just titles to me, which is how some people unfortunately choose to use these positions. I’ve also learned to prioritize my happiness and health, which in turn allows me to be my best self for those around me. These are all things that permit me to go out into the world and contribute to the community around me, regardless of where I end up. I’m an extremely hard worker, who is dedicated and passionate within everything I do. These are characteristics that will benefit a plethora of diverse environments. Based off this, I believe I will be a valuable asset anywhere I go.
